JEC Composites Observer
This presentation will cover the evolution and the growth of the composites industry at global level. It is a summary of the « JEC Composites Observer » a new annual overview of the state of the Composites Industry. Its release will become a new annual render-vous. The global composites market was of 11,4 Mt for 83 B$ in 2018. Asia has become the largest market in volume but Americas and EMEA still have higher added value applications. Composites markets follow the curve of economic development. Emerging Asia has still strong potential to grow. Europe has the risk of remaining fragmented by country. Composites materials are still niche materials compared to the main other competing materials such as concrete, steel and plastic. The industries where composites have increased their penetration rates over the past ten years are wind energy, marine, and electrical & electronics. Transportation and construction applications are the main drivers of the growth of composites (despite rather limited penetration rates of composites).
